Sólland Cremation Cemetery
From the jury’s opinion:
“The overall planning is good and the traffic system through the area is efficient. The interaction between the planning of the area and the wetland is convincing, as the wetland extends between the burial mounds, which themselves are formal and independent units. Cemetery bells in water are an exceptionally beautiful idea. The choice of materials is well explained and the proposal is well presented and well executed.”
The main idea of the cemetery is implemented as an archipelago or islets in wetlands surrounded by a forest, marchland and an outdoor recreation area. The cemetery weaves into the landscape creating a whole with the surroundings.
