Nursing home
From the report:
The site for the new nursing home was chosen under a forested slope of Húsavíkurfjall. The challenges and opportunities lie in adapting to the hillside, the surrounding area, the requirements for connections to existing buildings and creating a homely and stimulating environment.
The new nursing home is an angular building, which is both parallel and transverse to the mountainside, connects perpendicularly to the Hvamm Residential Home and forms a sheltered outdoor area.
The new nursing home is on three floors above ground level. 60 nursing rooms are arranged in 6 equally sized homes. The emphasis is on a homely environment, good working conditions and staff overview. There are two homes on each floor, with a shared shift between them.
There are 10 rooms in each home. Residents enjoy privacy in spacious rooms, which meet the requirements of universal design and facilities for receiving guests.
All rooms have a balcony or garden, and thus the opportunity for growing and keeping animals.
