Congregation Hall and Music School by Hafnarfjordur Church
1st Prize in an open architectural competition. The aim of the competition proposal was to demonstrate an integration of modern architecture to the Church, to strengthen the position and add value to the surroundings. The surfaces of the new buildings have the same texture and color as the Church to create a whole of new and old buildings. The main entrances of the church, the hall and the music school are from a paved sidewalk that is defined by a small pond. Sea gravel and stones in the pond demonstrate where the coastline lied in 1914 when the Church was built.
